Aled’s photo makes the final

“The following article appeared on page 8 of the November issue of the Bridlington Echo and is hereby reproduced with thanks to them”

Aled Jones a member of Bridlington Bay Bowling Club and amateur photographer and historian has narrowly missed out on winning a prestigious national photography competition.

Aled Jones, whose superb images can regularly be seen both in the print version of the Echo and on our social media platforms, was shortlisted from hundreds of entries down to a small group of finalists for the Shipwrecked Mariner’s Society annual photography competition.

His image was of a busy Bridlington harbour with rows of fishing boats lined up next to the south pier and three geese flying in the sky above.

The brief was to capture the essence of Britain’s long maritime heritage, with its ships, fishermen, coasts, ports and harbours.

Said Aled: “From my crow’s nest I can use my Nikon camera to get wonderful shots of boats and the harbour. I get woken some mornings by the waves crashing against the nearby sea wall. You never know when that prize-winning picture may present itself.”
